Common questions

A Few Things You May Be Wondering

Can I start a conversation before choosing a route?

Yes. Start with your professional background and goals for the United States. You do not need to choose a category before discussing which options merit a closer assessment.

Can we talk if my background is outside research?

Yes. The discussion can include experience in technology, business, leadership, the arts and other professions. The relevant options depend on individual achievements, plans and applicable requirements.

Are O-1, EB-1A and NIW the same kind of application?

No. EB-1A and NIW are employment-based immigration routes. O-1 is a temporary work visa category. Your purpose, background and work arrangements need to be considered accordingly.

Do I need to share confidential project files at the outset?

No. A résumé and project summaries are enough for an initial discussion. Check permission and remove unrelated personal or confidential information before sharing material from an employer, client or collaborator.
